Sharapova, Bryan Brothers Expected Inducted International Tennis Hall
Maria Sharapova was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island, alongside doubles legends Bob and Mike Bryan. Sharapova reflected on her career as one marked by significant sacrifice and hard work, noting the journey was worth it. She is one of only ten women to achieve a career Grand Slam, winning Wimbledon in 2004, the U.S. Open in 2006, the Australian Open in 2008, and the French Open in 2012 and 2014, also becoming the first Russian to reach No. 1 in the WTA singles rankings. Sharapova helped Russia win the Billie Jean King Cup in 2008 and earned a silver medal at the 2012 Olympics. Her career included challenges such as multiple shoulder surgeries and a 15-month doping ban for meldonium, which was later reduced by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, clearing her of intentional doping. Beyond tennis, she was a prominent figure in endorsements and fashion, and she retired in 2020 at age 32 after a 15-year career.
