Netflix Raises Subscription Prices Across US, Canada, Portugal, Argentina

Netflix has reported a record 18.9 million new subscribers in Q4 2024, bringing its total to 301.63 million, surpassing analyst expectations. Despite this growth, the streaming giant announced price hikes across its subscription plans in the U.S., Canada, Portugal, and Argentina, with increases ranging from $1 to $2.50 per month. The basic ad-supported plan will now cost $7.99, while the premium plan will rise to $24.99. Netflix attributed its strong subscriber growth to successful live sports broadcasts and returning popular shows. The company plans to increase its cash content budget to $18 billion in 2025 to enhance its programming and user experience. This increase in pricing reflects Netflix's confidence in its value proposition and the necessity to reinvest in content production.
