Romanian Foreign Minister Visits Kyiv Children's Hospital, Signals Solidarity with Ukraine
Romanian Foreign Minister Oana-Silvia Țoiu made her first visit to Kyiv since taking office and since the onset of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, underscoring Romania's unwavering solidarity with Ukraine. During her visit, she toured the Okhmatdyt children's hospital, severely damaged by a Russian missile strike in 2024, and the School of Superheroes at the National Cancer Institute, highlighting the resilience of Ukrainian children amid the conflict. Minister Țoiu emphasized the importance of supporting Ukrainian children’s wellbeing, freedom, and future, describing the attack on Okhmatdyt as a horrific war crime that will not go unpunished. In Kyiv, she held talks with senior Ukrainian officials, including the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, discussing regional security, air defense cooperation, the peace process, and the need to unblock negotiations on Ukraine's EU accession. The visit also focused on strengthening interparliamentary cooperation in the Ukraine-Romania-Moldova trilateral format and protecting Ukrainian children temporarily residing in Romania. Romanian officials have reaffirmed their continuing military and humanitarian support for Ukraine, with Romania recently providing an air defense system to bolster Ukraine's defense capabilities.
