Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav confirmed that the alliance with the Congress will continue for the upcoming by-elections on 10 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh. This announcement follows the SP's declaration of candidates for six seats, including Karhal, Sisamau, Milkipur, Katehari, Phulpur, and Majhwan. Despite speculations of a rift after Congress's recent performance in Haryana, Yadav maintained that the INDIA bloc, which includes both parties, remains intact. Congress has requested five seats in the bypolls, specifically Phulpur, Majhwan, Ghaziabad, Khair, and Meerapur. The seat-sharing arrangements will be determined by Akhilesh Yadav. The by-elections are necessitated as nine seats were vacated after MLAs were elected to the Lok Sabha, and one due to the need for a bypoll in Sisamau.
