Tallahassee Marks 200th Anniversary Celebration

Tallahassee celebrated its 200th anniversary over the weekend with a Bicentennial Festival at Cascades Park, featuring a historical marker unveiling and performances, including a concert by local artist T-Pain. Mayors from St. Augustine and Pensacola joined Tallahassee Mayor John Dailey to honor the city's founding, emphasizing Tallahassee's role as a political compromise between eastern and western Florida. The festival also included educational displays about the city's history, as well as a theatrical performance titled 'The Great Election Fight of 1824'. Additionally, a presentation on the first legislative meeting of Florida's government was held, showcasing the foundational political history of Tallahassee. The weather for the weekend featured warm temperatures and occasional clouds, with light winds and brief showers possible.
