Jindal India Renewable Energy Ltd., part of the BC Jindal Group, has announced its entry into the battery energy storage systems (BESS) sector, aiming to build a 1 GWh battery pack assembly line using lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry by 2025, and expand into battery cell manufacturing with a target of 5 GWh by 2027. The company will collaborate with a technology provider to ensure high-quality standards, as part of India's strategy to enhance its renewable energy capabilities. With the BESS market projected to grow at a CAGR of 11.41% until 2032, Jindal aims to contribute to grid stability and integrate renewable sources more effectively. The initiative aligns with Jindal's broader goal to generate 5 GW of power from various renewable sources, including solar and wind. The announcement comes during the 4th Global Renewable Energy Investors Meet & Expo, highlighting the growing emphasis on renewable energy in India's policy framework.
