Southern California Breaks Seismic Activity Record

Southern California experienced multiple earthquakes recently, including a 3.5-magnitude quake near Ontario and a 3.2-magnitude quake off the Malibu coast. The Ontario quake, occurring at a depth of about 3 miles, was felt by over 1,200 people from various areas including Irvine and Studio City. The Malibu quake, striking at a depth of about 8 miles, was the latest in a series of temblors to hit the region this month. Despite the frequent tremors, no significant damage or injuries have been reported. Experts emphasize that the recent activity does not indicate an impending large quake and advise people to follow safety measures such as dropping, covering, and holding on during an earthquake. The increase in moderate quakes this year has broken a 65-year record for seismic sequences in Southern California.
