Canadian Man Charged in 1997 Murder Case

Robert Creter, a 60-year-old Canadian resident, has been arrested and charged with the 1997 murder of Tamara Tignor in Somerset County, New Jersey. Tignor, who was 23 at the time of her death, was found murdered near a remote trail; her case remained unsolved for decades. The breakthrough came with advancements in DNA technology and an eyewitness account linking Creter to an orange van seen with Tignor. Creter, who relocated to Winnipeg, Canada in 2002, was extradited to the U.S. following a DNA match made in April 2023. This arrest highlights the persistent efforts of law enforcement and the impact of modern forensic technology. Creter is scheduled for a detention hearing on December 4.
