Man Dies Attempting Rescue of Children in Sea Near Skegness
A 60-year-old man tragically died after attempting to rescue two children who appeared to be in distress in the sea near the Promenade in Ingoldmells, close to Skegness. The incident occurred shortly after 4pm on May 25, when the man entered the water but got into difficulty and was pronounced dead at the scene despite emergency response efforts involving the air ambulance, coastguard, and RNLI. Lincolnshire Police expressed their condolences to the man's family and have not released further details about the identities of those involved. This event echoes a similar case in February, where a British tourist drowned while bravely trying to save two children off the coast of Spain. The community and authorities remember such acts of courage, highlighting the risks undertaken to protect others in distress at sea.
