IDF Kills Mujahideen Brigades Leaders Behind Bibas Family Abduction, Gaza Attacks

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) killed Asaad Abu Sharia, head of the Mujahideen Brigades, a Hamas-allied terror group responsible for the October 7, 2023, abductions and murders of Shiri Bibas and her two young sons, Ariel and Kfir, along with other hostages. Abu Sharia was a key figure in the brutal massacre at Kibbutz Nir Oz, where 47 people were killed and 76 abducted, with only four presumed alive. Another senior Mujahideen leader, Mahmoud Kaheel, who was involved in holding the Bibas family captive, was also killed. The Mujahideen Brigades collaborated with Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad in attacks against Israel and the IDF, and have claimed responsibility for rocket fire and terror operations. The IDF recovered the bodies of several hostages, including Bibas family members and others such as an Israeli-American couple and a Thai worker, confirming the terror group’s involvement in their murders. The Bibas family expressed some comfort in the elimination of the killers, viewing it as a step toward closure despite the irreplaceable loss.
