King Charles Begins Removal of Prince Andrew's Titles

King Charles III has initiated a formal process to remove Prince Andrew's style, titles and honours — including the title of prince, the Dukedom of York, membership of the Order of the Garter and the style 'His Royal Highness' — and has served notice for him to surrender the lease on Royal Lodge and move to private accommodation. Buckingham Palace said Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor and that Royal Warrants are being prepared to effect the changes officially, despite his continued denial of allegations linked to his relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and claims by Virginia Giuffre. The decision follows mounting public, parliamentary and media pressure after new revelations about his contacts with Epstein and publication of Giuffre’s account, and was framed as a move to draw a clear line between Andrew and the rest of the monarchy to protect the institution. Palace statements said the King acted with the support of the wider family and expressed sympathy for victims and survivors. Private arrangements are being made for Andrew’s relocation (reports name Sandringham), and his daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, will retain their titles, marking an unprecedented curtailing of a royal-born prince's public status.
