Pope to Canonize First Millennial Saint in 2025

Pope Francis has announced the canonization of Carlo Acutis, a British-born Italian teenager known as the 'patron saint of the internet,' who will become the first millennial saint. Acutis, who died of leukemia in 2006, used his tech skills to document Eucharistic miracles, influencing many to deepen their faith. His canonization is scheduled for April 27, 2025, during the Jubilee of Adolescents at the Vatican. Alongside Acutis, Pier Giorgio Frassati, known for his charitable work, will also be canonized in late July or early August. The Pope's announcement coincides with World Children's Day and includes plans for a world meeting on children's rights. These canonizations are expected to draw many young people to Rome, highlighting the vibrancy of youth in the Catholic Church.
