Idaho Inmate Skylar Meade Charged with Murder

Skylar Meade, an inmate who staged a violent escape from a Boise hospital, has been transported to Nez Perce County to face murder charges for the killing of 83-year-old James L. Mauney. Meade's escape, which involved a gunfight with corrections officers, occurred on March 20, 2024, and he is also linked to another murder in Clearwater County. Following his escape, he was indicted for Mauney's murder in June. Meade, who had previously pleaded guilty to multiple charges related to his escape, is classified as a high-risk inmate. The Idaho State Police coordinated with several law enforcement agencies for his transport, emphasizing safety and security during the operation. Prosecutor Justin Coleman acknowledged the collaborative effort in ensuring Meade's secure transfer to face justice for his alleged crimes.
