Somerset Bus Crash Prompts Major Emergency Response
A major emergency response was launched after a bus carrying passengers, reportedly including schoolchildren, crashed off the A396 Cutcombe Hill near Wheddon Cross, Somerset, at around 3pm on Thursday. Emergency services, including fire crews, police, paramedics, and multiple air ambulances, responded to rescue those trapped, with most passengers evacuated and efforts ongoing for the remaining occupants. The number and severity of casualties remain unconfirmed. Authorities have closed the A396 in both directions and set up diversions. A local pub has been established as an emergency centre to assist those affected. Local MP Rachel Gilmour has urged the public to keep clear of the area to support emergency operations.
