Diddy Seeks Reduced Sentence Amid Prostitution Convictions and Abuse Lawsuit
Sean "Diddy" Combs is scheduled for sentencing in early October following his conviction on prostitution-related charges and Mann Act violations, with his defense seeking a prison term no longer than 14 months, citing his nearly 13 months already served and transformative rehabilitation during incarceration. His lawyers argue that his conduct was mischaracterized, asserting that the charges should be dismissed as Combs' intent was voyeurism rather than profit, and that the activities were consensual and protected under the First Amendment. Defense filings highlight Combs' troubled personal history, including the murder of his father, struggles with addiction, and the impact of trauma, while emphasizing his role as a father and caregiver. Prosecutors, however, have recommended a significantly longer sentence of 51 to 63 months. Meanwhile, Combs faces a separate civil lawsuit filed by his former stylist, Deonte Nash, who alleges a decade of sexual battery, human trafficking, and abuse while employed by Combs, claims that include physical and psychological mistreatment and ongoing threats. Nash, who testified during Combs' criminal trial, details specific incidents of assault and alleges that Combs used his power to maintain control and silence over him.
