SAS, WestJet Pact Unlocks Seamless Transatlantic Travel Across Seven Countries

Canada's air travel landscape is undergoing significant enhancements through strategic expansions by Porter Airlines and a new partnership between Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) and WestJet. SAS and WestJet have launched an interline agreement facilitating seamless transatlantic travel between Canada and several European countries, with plans to evolve into a full codeshare agreement, simplifying bookings and baggage handling. Porter Airlines has introduced new non-stop domestic routes connecting Hamilton with Calgary and Edmonton, as well as seasonal flights from Toronto Pearson to Deer Lake and Charlottetown, all operated with its modern Embraer E195-E2 aircraft featuring upscale amenities. Furthermore, the Canadian Transportation Agency has approved Porter Airlines to operate direct international flights to the UK, Costa Rica, and Jamaica, marking a significant step as Porter moves beyond code-share arrangements to operate its own international services. While Porter has not announced immediate launch dates for these international routes, the approvals align with its strategic growth plans, including potential future sun destinations and transatlantic service.
