Orlando Magic Sign Tyus Jones, Reshape Backcourt
The Orlando Magic have signed veteran guard Tyus Jones to a one-year, $7 million deal, providing valuable experience and an elite assist-to-turnover ratio as he enters his 11th NBA season. Jones averaged 10.2 points, 5.3 assists, and shot 41.4% from three-point range last season with the Memphis Grizzlies and is expected to serve as a key backup to Jalen Suggs while competing for minutes with Anthony Black. This move follows the acquisition of Desmond Bane from the Grizzlies, further strengthening Orlando’s backcourt. The Magic, led by rising star Paolo Banchero, are aiming to advance past the first round of the playoffs for the first time since 2010. Orlando anticipates Moe Wagner’s return and has recently drafted Jase Richardson. The team has also declined contract options on Cory Joseph and Gary Harris as part of their roster overhaul.
