North Yorkshire Moors Diesel Gala Hosts Four 1960s Heritage Locomotives

Several heritage and charitable railway events and initiatives are underway across the UK in 2025, highlighting rail history and supporting communities. An OO Scale model of GB Railfreight's Class 69 Diesel Locomotive No. 69013, featuring Andy’s Man Club mental health charity branding, is being produced to raise funds, aiming to generate £13,000 for the cause. The iconic A4 Sir Nigel Gresley steam locomotive, known for its speed and royal connections, recently passed through Carlisle, attracting many train enthusiasts. The Railway 200 campaign's touring train, Inspiration, will visit Blackpool North with themed carriages celebrating rail history, engineering, and careers, enhancing public engagement with the rail industry. Additionally, the North Yorkshire Moors Railway will host its Annual Diesel Gala, showcasing four restored 1960s heritage diesel locomotives, including the famous 'Alycidon' and 'Rodney'. Meanwhile, the Heritage Railway and Carousel Company is dedicating a charity day to benefit the Nipissing Serenity Hospice, continuing a tradition of supporting local non-profits through railway-related events.
