Mayo GAA has officially relieved Kevin McStay and his management team of their duties as the senior football management team with immediate effect, concluding McStay's three-year tenure despite originally being appointed for four years. McStay had stepped away from his role earlier in the season due to health issues, with Stephen Rochford temporarily taking charge during the All-Ireland series, where Mayo failed to advance past the group stage following defeats to Cavan and Donegal. The Mayo County Board expressed gratitude for McStay's dedication, highlighting the 2023 National League victory as a significant achievement during his time in charge. The decision was made at a Coiste Bainistíocht meeting held at MacHale Park, with an update on the future management of the senior team promised soon.
