Police Shoot Suspect at Kentucky Hospital
Early Saturday morning, Elizabethtown police responded to reports of an active shooter at Baptist Health Hardin, where a man armed with a handgun had fired shots inside the emergency department. An officer shot the suspect during the encounter, resulting in critical injuries, but he was airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Fortunately, no other individuals were harmed during the incident. The officer involved has been placed on a two-week paid administrative leave, and both the Elizabethtown Police Department and Kentucky State Police are conducting investigations. Police spokesperson Chris Denham praised the hospital's unarmed security staff for their bravery in confronting the armed man. The identity of the suspect and the officer involved has not yet been released.
