Maryland Man Charged After Shooting Dick's Sporting Goods

Damonne Antonio Shayne Martin, 23, of Silver Spring, Maryland, was arrested and charged with first-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and multiple firearm and drug offenses after allegedly firing several rounds into the windows of a Dick’s Sporting Goods store in Montgomery County on April 7. Earlier that day, Martin had been removed from the store on suspicion of concealing merchandise. Police responded to the shooting at the 11100 block of Veirs Mill Road around 9 p.m. and later identified Martin as the suspect. He was arrested on April 15 and found in possession of a loaded handgun and suspected cocaine. A subsequent search of his residence recovered more suspected cocaine and evidence suggesting intent to distribute. Martin is currently being held at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.
