Two Teachers Indicted in Separate Child Sex Crimes

Eric Curtis Chapman, a 43-year-old former teacher and coach at Cortez High School in Phoenix, has been indicted on 20 felony counts related to sexual conduct and exploitation of minors, with offenses occurring between 2020 and April 2025 involving both current and former students. Allegations include filming sexual acts with students aged 16 and 17 in classrooms, a coach's locker room, and Chapman's vehicle. Authorities found hundreds of images and videos of child sexual abuse material on his devices, which Chapman admitted to downloading from the dark web. His arrest came after a tip from a social media provider about his online interactions with minors, and he is being held on a $250,000 cash-only bond. In a separate but related case, a teacher at Liberty High School in New York was arrested for sharing child-related pornographic content on social media, though officials say Liberty students were not involved. Both school districts are cooperating with law enforcement and providing support to affected students.
