Tennessee Woman Sentenced for Dark Web Hitman Plot

Melody Sasser, a 48-year-old woman from Tennessee, was sentenced to 100 months in prison for attempting to hire a hitman to kill the wife of a man she met on Match.com. Sasser paid nearly $10,000 in Bitcoin to the dark web site 'Online Killers Market,' requesting the murder to appear as an accident to avoid suspicion. She provided detailed information about the victim's whereabouts using a fitness app and left threatening voicemails. The plot was uncovered thanks to a tip from a foreign law enforcement agency and subsequent police investigation, leading to her arrest. Sasser pled guilty and will also pay over $5,300 in restitution.
