Police Shoot Armed Man at Manchester Hotel

A man was shot by police after firing a pistol at officers during a confrontation at the Manchester Fairfield Inn on South Porter Street, which began when he refused to vacate his hotel room after checkout. Police responded to the scene at around 4:40 p.m., and after the man shot at them, officers returned fire and provided immediate medical aid. The wounded man is in stable condition at a local hospital, and no officers were injured. The incident set off the hotel's fire sprinkler system, causing water damage. State police concluded their on-site investigation early Sunday morning.
