Waterbury Man Arrested in Fatal Double Stabbing June 28
Jose Ayala, 50, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder and assault in connection with a stabbing incident on Washington Street in Waterbury that left Samuel Lopez, 47, dead and another man seriously injured. The incident occurred on June 28 and was reportedly the result of a personal dispute, as Ayala knew both victims. Lopez suffered multiple stab wounds and died after being transported to a hospital, while the second victim sustained a serious facial laceration but has since been released. Following the incident, Ayala voluntarily turned himself in to police after a warrant was issued for his arrest and is being held on a $2 million bond. Lopez's family has started a GoFundMe campaign to help with funeral expenses. The Waterbury Police Department is seeking additional information from the public regarding the case.
