Jrue Holiday Named 2024-25 NBA Social Justice Champion

Boston Celtics guard Jrue Holiday was named the 2024-25 NBA Social Justice Champion, receiving the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Trophy and a $100,000 donation to the Jrue and Lauren Holiday Social Impact Fund (JLH Fund). This honor followed his recent second NBA Sportsmanship Award, underscoring his dedication both on and off the court. The JLH Fund, established when Holiday pledged $5 million of his 2020 salary, has distributed over $5.3 million in grants and supported nearly 200 businesses affected by systemic racism and economic injustice. NBA deputy commissioner Mark Tatum praised Holiday's selflessness and commitment to creating opportunities for disadvantaged youth. Holiday was selected over finalists including Bam Adebayo, Harrison Barnes, Chris Boucher, and CJ McCollum for advancing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s mission to promote equality. Despite his off-court achievements, Holiday and the Celtics face challenges in the playoffs, currently trailing 0-2 against the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
