Distribution Workshop Unveils Aaron Kwok's Comedy-Drama ‘IOU’ at Hong Kong FilMart

The upcoming film 'IOU,' directed by Steven Zhang Zhonghua and starring Aaron Kwok, is set against the backdrop of recent illegal fundraising scams in China. Kwok portrays a desperate man who attempts to force a family to repay a loan by blockading their home, but his interactions with the simple-minded siblings lead to a transformative experience for him. Produced by Julia Chu, the film is noted for its satirical take on the selfishness present in an interest-driven society. 'IOU' began production in early March with a budget of around $3 million and has already garnered attention as a Top-30 finalist in the Golden Rooster Film Project Market. Distribution Workshop is showcasing the film at Hong Kong's Filmart, running March 17-20, along with other titles in their slate. Zhang is recognized for his previous works that often feature child actors, and 'IOU' represents a reunion with Kwok after their successful collaborations on earlier projects.
