French Open Plans Grand Tribute to Rafael Nadal May 25

Rafael Nadal, the 14-time French Open champion who retired in November, will be honored with a special tribute ceremony at Roland Garros on May 25, the tournament's opening day. Organizers and French Tennis Federation officials emphasized Nadal's historic achievements and deep connection to the tournament, highlighting his record-setting 14 titles and exceptional win-loss record on the Parisian clay. While the exact details of the ceremony remain a surprise, Nadal will also feature in an exhibition at the tournament museum and lend his voice to the official trailer. Last year, Nadal declined a tribute as he was uncertain about his retirement, but now he has embraced the honor. In addition, tributes will be paid to retiring French player Richard Gasquet and 2000 champion Mary Pierce. The French Open will also maintain traditional line judges, standing apart from other Grand Slams adopting electronic line calling.
