Trevor Immelman Named OWGR Chairman
Trevor Immelman, the 2008 Masters champion and current CBS lead golf analyst, has been appointed as the new chairman of the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR), effective April 10. He succeeds Peter Dawson, who has held the position since 2016. Immelman aims to enhance the ranking system by introducing a new points distribution curve for tournaments with low field ratings and including the PGA Tour of Taiwan in the OWGR starting in 2025. He expressed his deep appreciation for the ranking system, which has played a significant role in his career, and emphasized the importance of the top 50 rankings for professional golfers. Under Dawson’s leadership, the OWGR expanded from 16 to 24 recognized tours and implemented changes to its ranking mechanisms. Immelman becomes the third chairman since the OWGR's management structure was established in 2004.
