Students from Lake Charles, Sacramento, Elk Grove Win C-SPAN National Documentary Competition
C-SPAN recently held its 21st annual StudentCam Competition, where students were tasked with creating documentaries addressing the theme, 'Your Message to the President: What issue is most important to you or your community?' This year, nearly 3,500 students submitted entries, with popular topics including K-12 education policies. Notable winners included Luke Hargrave from Louisiana, who won third place for his documentary on addiction, and Sacramento's Tanaya Safi, who also received third place for her film on electric vehicles. In a separate regional competition, Waynesboro student Anisa Minnich won first place and will advance to the state competition, marking her third consecutive regional victory. Educators across the board were recognized for their guidance in helping students create impactful narratives. C-SPAN's Director of Education Relations praised the students for their in-depth research and storytelling capabilities.
