UK and Chinese Villages Top Tourism List 2024

Several picturesque villages in the UK and China have been recognized for their charm and sustainable tourism efforts. In the UK, Kingham in the Cotswolds, Broughton in North Yorkshire, Mersea Island in Essex, and Audlem in Cheshire have been noted for their unique offerings and sustainable practices. Meanwhile, seven Chinese villages have been honored by the UNWTO as 'Best Tourism Villages 2024' for their cultural preservation and sustainable practices, bringing China's total to 15 villages recognized in this category. The UNWTO initiative highlights the role of tourism in preserving rural areas and enhancing community well-being globally, with a total of 55 villages from 60 countries being honored. This initiative is part of the UN Tourism for Rural Development Programme, aimed at empowering rural communities and promoting sustainable practices.
