Man Charged with Murder in April Shooting

Troy Damentrice Abbitt, a 24-year-old inmate in Forsyth County Jail, has been charged with the murder of Shannon Denean Clark, a 59-year-old woman found shot dead in her Winston-Salem home on April 14. Abbitt was already in custody on other charges, including felony possession of a firearm by a felon and discharging a firearm into an enclosure, when the murder charge was added. He is being held without bond and is scheduled to appear in court on December 27. The investigation into Clark's death began shortly after officers found her unresponsive at her apartment. The police are encouraging anyone with information about the case to come forward. Abbitt's prior charges carry a bond amount of $200,000, but his murder charge prohibits bail.
