Mace signs £200m retrofit project for 65 Gresham Street, London
Mace has been appointed by JP Morgan Asset Management to lead the retrofit of 65 Gresham Street, one of London's largest building reuse projects, with a total area of 36,800 sqm. The project will retain over 70% of the existing structure and aims for a 66% reduction in whole-life carbon, with 95% of materials being recycled or reused on-site. Mace is committed to sustainability, implementing a 'reuse-first approach' and ensuring that the building will operate fossil fuel-free, utilizing air-source heat pumps for heating and cooling. The redevelopment will add four new lightweight floors and include outdoor terraces and balconies on every level, enhancing the building's environmental credentials with extensive greening initiatives. Managing director Ged Simmonds emphasized that this ambitious project reflects the growing trend in London towards sustainable office developments. The project is designed in collaboration with architects Squire and Partners and structural engineers Buro Happold.
