Mobb Deep's Havoc Details 2Pac Feud Origins Amid 30th Anniversary Tour
Mobb Deep's Havoc recently explained that Tupac Shakur's diss towards the group on the track "Hit 'Em Up" stemmed from a combination of factors, including a misunderstood lyric from Mobb Deep's "Survival of the Fittest" that referenced 'Thug Life'—a term Tupac was distancing himself from at the time. Additionally, Tupac's animosity was fueled by Mobb Deep's involvement in Capone-N-Noreaga's "L.A., L.A.," a response to the West Coast track "New York, New York," which intensified the East Coast-West Coast rivalry. Tupac's infamous diss included a harsh line targeting Prodigy’s sickle cell disease, which Prodigy later succumbed to in 2017. Mobb Deep responded with "Drop A Gem On 'Em," but the song was pulled from airwaves following Tupac's death. Havoc is currently honoring Mobb Deep's legacy through an upcoming tour with Raekwon celebrating the 30th anniversaries of their landmark albums "The Infamous" and "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx," promising raw, high-energy hip-hop performances. Meanwhile, Havoc also discussed the forthcoming Mobb Deep album, part of the Mass Appeal's Legend Has It series, set to release before the end of 2025.
