Meanwhile, Massachusetts has confirmed its fourth human case of EEE this season, involving a man in his 50s from Middlesex County. State health officials highlight that this year's EEE season is notably active, with 91 EEE-positive mosquito samples found across multiple counties. Preventative measures are being recommended, including the use of insect repellent and rescheduling outdoor activities to avoid peak mosquito hours. Massachusetts had its last EEE outbreak from 2019-2020, resulting in 17 human cases and seven deaths. Residents in both states are urged to take necessary precautions to protect against mosquito-borne diseases.
