Atletico Madrid’s Estadio Metropolitano to Host 2027 Champions League Final

UEFA has announced that Atlético Madrid's Estadio Metropolitano will host the 2027 UEFA Champions League final, returning to the venue of Liverpool's 2019 victory over Tottenham Hotspur. The stadium, noted for its modern facilities and ability to host major events, was chosen over the originally planned San Siro in Milan, which was ruled out due to non-compliance with hosting requirements. This will mark the sixth time Madrid hosts the final, making it one of the most frequent host cities alongside London. Alongside the men's final, the 2027 Women's Champions League final will be held at Warsaw's National Stadium in Poland, and the 2026 Super Cup and other futsal tournaments will take place in various European cities. UEFA also approved a regulatory change allowing clubs in men's competitions to replace a single outfield player temporarily during the league phase if the player suffers a long-term injury or illness. Meanwhile, unrelated to football, the 2026 EuroLeague Final Four basketball tournament will be held in Athens, Greece, in the renovated Telekom Center Arena, marking the event's return to the city after 19 years.
