White Sox Recall Jonathan Cannon for Bulk Relief Against Twins
The Chicago White Sox have recalled right-handed pitcher Jonathan Cannon from Triple-A Charlotte to serve in a bulk relief role for their upcoming game against the Minnesota Twins. Cannon, who was optioned to Triple-A earlier in August after struggling with a 5.34 ERA and allowing 18 earned runs over 12 innings across three starts, is expected to follow left-hander Fraser Ellard, the game's opener. The team also recalled left-hander Tyler Gilbert and placed left-hander Bryan Hudson on the 15-day injured list due to a lower back strain, while designating right-hander Bryse Wilson for assignment. White Sox pitching coach Ethan Katz noted that Cannon's time in the minors was intended to help him develop strategies against left-handed hitters and improve his pitch variety, particularly his changeup and breaking ball. Despite Cannon's return, fantasy baseball managers are advised to seek other options given his recent performance struggles, including giving up at least five earned runs in each of his last three outings. The White Sox are looking to solidify their pitching staff as they head into the final stretch of the 2025 season.
