Former UK Teacher Banned After Receiving Child Abuse Video on WhatsApp

William Thomas Gee, a former head of music and assistant headteacher at St Benedict's Catholic High School in Warwickshire, has been banned from teaching indefinitely after being placed on the Sex Offenders Register for accessing and storing indecent images of children. Gee received a video in 2022 from a man he believed was romantically interested in him, which showed a sexual act involving a 15-year-old child, but he failed to report it to the police due to fear of losing the man's interest. Despite his fragile mental state and claims of a genuine connection, Gee admitted to the misconduct and was cautioned by West Mercia Police in 2023. His actions were deemed serious misconduct by the Teaching Regulation Agency, especially given his role in safeguarding training. Separately, a Florida teacher, Oliver Fell, has been arrested for sending explicit photos and engaging in lewd conduct with a 14-year-old student, with evidence collected from social media and digital devices. Additionally, a former teacher in Victoria was jailed for historical child sex abuse, with victims describing severe long-term psychological impacts, highlighting ongoing issues of abuse and misconduct in educational settings.
