New Variants of Pegasus Spyware Uncovered

Recent findings by mobile security firm iVerify have uncovered new variants of the notorious Pegasus spyware, revealing its presence on both iPhone and Android devices. The company's 'Mobile Threat Hunting' feature detected spyware in 7 out of 2,500 devices scanned, indicating a broader proliferation of Pegasus than previously known, targeting not just high-profile individuals but a wider demographic. The spyware, developed by NSO Group, exploits zero-click vulnerabilities, allowing devices to be compromised without user interaction. iVerify's detection relies on machine learning and diagnostic data, and the findings will be presented at the Objective by the Sea security conference. Meanwhile, a separate advisory by Lucknow Police warns of scams involving malicious files disguised as PDF invitations that compromise mobile devices. These discoveries highlight the growing threat and sophistication of digital espionage tools against a diverse range of targets.
