Jeremy Strong Cast as Mark Zuckerberg in 2026's The Social Reckoning
Jeremy Strong is set to portray an older Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Reckoning, the sequel to the acclaimed 2010 film The Social Network, with the story taking place about 17 years after the original. Unlike Jesse Eisenberg's Oscar-nominated portrayal in the first film, Strong emphasized that his performance will be distinct and that he has not consulted Eisenberg, stating their portrayals "have nothing to do with" each other. The new film, written and directed by Aaron Sorkin, focuses on whistleblower Frances Haugen's efforts to expose Facebook's internal secrets, highlighting issues like censorship, privacy violations, and political pressure. Strong praised Sorkin's script as one of the best he has read, noting its contemporary relevance and the complex nature of Zuckerberg's character. The Social Reckoning is described as a companion piece rather than a direct sequel and is expected to release in October 2026. This marks Strong's third collaboration with Sorkin, following Molly's Game and The Trial of the Chicago 7.
