Former Hochul Aide Arrested for Spying

The indictment outlines charges including violations of the Foreign Agents Registration Act, money laundering, and visa fraud, with her husband, Chris Hu, also implicated. Sun is accused of obstructing Taiwanese representatives from accessing New York officials and manipulating state messaging to favor Chinese narratives. The couple reportedly used the proceeds of their alleged activities to purchase luxury properties and vehicles, including a $4.1 million home in Manhasset and a 2024 Ferrari. Hochul’s administration claims it reported Sun's misconduct to authorities last year, leading to her termination in March 2023.
