Three Arrested in Off-Duty Sgt. Philip Nix's Murder

Off-duty Sgt. Philip Nix of Greensboro, NC was killed on 30 December while intervening in a larceny involving $83.45 worth of beer at a Sheetz gas station. The suspects, 18-year-old Jamere Justice Foster, charged with first-degree murder, and Z'quriah Le'Pearce Blackwell, 18, and John Walter Morrison, 28, both charged with accessory after the fact to first-degree murder, have been arrested. Foster and Morrison are being held without bond, while Blackwell's bond has been set at $500,000. Governor Roy Cooper has pledged state resources to the case, while the mayor condemned the act of violence.
