Netflix Plans Swedish Crime Drama 'The Case' Starring Jakob Oftebro for 2026 Release
Netflix is set to release a new Swedish crime drama titled "The Case" in 2026, created and written by George Kay, known for his work on "Lupin." The five-episode series, filmed in Stockholm, follows lead investigator Thomas Berg, played by Jakob Oftebro, who is hunting a serial killer targeting police officers. To solve the case, Thomas must reluctantly work with his estranged father Alfred, a former detective portrayed by Peter Andersson. Directed by Kristoffer Nyholm and produced by B-Reel Films, Observatory Pictures, and New Pictures, the show blends elements of a father-son relationship with a gripping criminal thriller set against the backdrop of Stockholm's endless summer. Netflix's Nordic content head praised Kay's ability to craft suspenseful and character-driven stories, highlighting this series as a bold new take on Swedish crime drama. The cast also includes Electra Hallman, Alexander Abdallah, Lisette T. Pagler, Henrik Norlén, Magnus Krepper, Irina Björklund, Anders Mossling, and Anna Maria Käll.
