Johnson City Shooting Injures One, Man Arrested Downtown
Early Saturday morning in downtown Johnson City, Tennessee, a shooting incident left one person with a gunshot wound to the leg near the Downtown Square at 150 W State of Franklin Road. Johnson City Police Department officers on foot patrol heard the gunshot, quickly responded, provided first aid to the victim, and the injured individual was transported to a hospital for treatment. Andre Johnson, 23, from North Augusta, South Carolina, identified himself as the shooter at the scene and was arrested without further incident; he was charged with aggravated assault and taken to the Washington County Detention Center. The Johnson City Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division is actively investigating the case. This incident follows recent efforts by the City of Johnson City to limit last call for alcohol sales downtown, citing concerns over violence and public disturbances as motivation for the proposed ordinance. Authorities have not released the victim's condition.
