EU Imposes New Sanctions on Russian Entities

The European Union has adopted its 15th package of sanctions aimed at Russia, targeting 52 additional vessels associated with circumventing sanctions on oil and military transport, bringing the total to 79. This latest measure specifically addresses ships involved in high-risk trades, including transporting stolen Ukrainian grain and military equipment. The sanctions extend to four LNG carriers linked to Russian gas producer Novatek, as well as various defense companies and entities from China suspected of supporting Russia. EU officials emphasized that these actions are part of a broader strategy to weaken Russia’s military capabilities while supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty. The sanctions reflect the EU's commitment to increasing the economic pressure on Russia and preventing any circumvention efforts in maritime transport. With over 2,300 officials and entities impacted by sanctions since the onset of the conflict, the EU continues to adapt its approach to counteract Russian aggression.
