One miner dead, two missing after Slovenia coal mine flooding

A tragic accident at the Premogovnik Velenje coal mine in Slovenia has resulted in the death of at least one miner, with two others still missing following a flooding incident on Monday evening. Out of the 14 workers present, 11 managed to escape, while three remained trapped due to water and silt accumulation. Rescue efforts are ongoing but are complicated by the hazardous conditions, and officials have expressed slim hope for the missing miners' survival. Slovenian President Natasa Pirc Musar has called for a thorough investigation to enhance miner safety and prevent future tragedies. This incident marks the first fatal accident at the Velenje mine since 2003. Prime Minister Robert Golob is expected to visit the site to assess the situation and provide support for the families affected.
