ECU Professor Blace Nalavany Charged with Child Exploitation

Blace Nalavany, a 57-year-old associate professor of social work at East Carolina University, was arrested on 10 counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor following an FBI investigation. The arrest occurred after a search warrant was executed at his home in Winterville, North Carolina, where evidence related to child pornography was discovered. Nalavany has been with ECU since 2006 and specializes in providing clinical services to children and families. He is currently being held in the Pitt County jail under a $750,000 bond. Both the FBI and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation collaborated on this case, highlighting the serious nature of the allegations. The university has not yet commented on the situation.
