Memphis Appoints Darren M. Goods as Public Safety Advisor

Memphis Mayor Paul Young has appointed Darren M. Goods, a veteran law enforcement leader with over 35 years of experience, as the city's new Public Safety Advisor. Goods will oversee the Group Violence Intervention Program and the Joint Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement, aiming to align police enforcement with community-based violence prevention and intervention efforts. His extensive background includes serving as a Colonel with the Memphis Police Department and as Deputy Commissioner of Juvenile Justice for the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services. The position is partially funded by the Crime Commission’s Business Roundtable, reflecting a public-private partnership focused on reducing crime in Memphis.
