James Lewis Spencer III has been charged with the murder of Sean Connery Showers, a convicted sex offender. Spencer, posing as a minor on Kik, lured Showers into a meeting with sexual conversations. Showers' body was found in a Houston ditch on 29 May 2023, having been shot multiple times. Spencer confessed to the murder, stating he targeted Showers due to perceived police inaction over paedophiles. Spencer, under a $250,000 bond, is under house arrest with an ankle monitor pending his trial.
