Nashville ICE, THP Raids Detain Dozens in Latino Areas

Early Sunday morning, Tennessee Highway Patrol and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement conducted approximately 150 traffic stops in predominantly Latino neighborhoods of Nashville, detaining an estimated 40 to 100 individuals and transporting some out of state for immigration processing. Authorities stated the operation targeted areas with high accident rates and suspected gang activity, but many families were left without information about detained loved ones. Witnesses reported that both drivers and passengers, including mothers with young children, were detained. Immigrant rights groups, council members, and legislators condemned the raids, demanding transparency and criticizing the lack of communication from ICE and THP. Protesters gathered outside the Nashville DHS field office, calling for answers and support for affected families. ICE and state officials have yet to provide detailed responses regarding the operation or the status of those detained.
